Rolex 24 At Daytona

We are all used to getting our fix of 'twice round the clock' racing in France every June, but that's not the only 24-hour race featuring cars, in part, based on the regulations of the ACO. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, formed by the merger of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and IMSA's Grand Am has its blue riband event in the Florida sunshine every January.

So barely four weeks into the new year you could be sampling the excitement of 'twice round the clock' racing in the Florida sunshine watching the world's elite sports car drivers tackle the amazing Daytona International Speedway complete with its 31 degree banking - believe us that is can barely walk up it. But don't take our word for can try and walk up it for yourself just minutes before the start of the race!

Better news too is that the Rolex 24 At Daytona is an extremely cost effective event to attend with the transatlantic air fare the only component that you may need to save for; even then, the race takes part out of peak times, so the flights are comparatively cheap. We offer flights with Virgin Atlantic direct from London Gatwick (LGW) to Orlando International (MCO) airport. Alternatively, you can book your own flights and join the group at the resort.

Our packages allow you to become part of a group with a real connection to the race. Spirit of Daytona Racing is one of the leading teams in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and were on the Rolex 24 At Daytona winning podium in both 2016 and 2017! Booking one of our packages, with its exclusive 'ultimate ticket bundle', makes you part of the group supporting this winning team and gets you unrivalled access to the racing action at Daytona. The group is based at the Fountain Beach Resort which has long been the accommodation of choice for UK visitors to Daytona Beach.

Our Spirit of Daytona Racing Package includes -

  • 5 nights stay at the Fountain Beach Resort on a bed & breakfast basis (twin or double rooms)
  • 5 days car rental based on a full-size 2 door car (with the option to upgrade to a convertible or SUV)
  • Ultimate endurance ticket - full infield and stadium access for all four days of the event
  • Circuit infield parking - with limited parking so close to the action, this is a ‘must have’ for this event!
  • Access to the impressive stadium grandstand facilities – with stadium seating newly opened in January 2016 as the largest single investment in a motorsport facility in the world!
  • Exclusive garage visit and ‘meet the team’ opportunity with Spirit of Daytona Racing
  • 'Welcome breakfast' hosted by IMSA in the Daytona Tower overlooking the speedway and pit lane – we hope you like heights!
  • Post-race social in the Tiki Bar at the Fountain Beach Resort - a chance to swap stories with other members of the group, reflect on the fantastic experience and enjoy an ‘American’ IPA beer or two!

We offer the package as either flight-inclusive out of London Gatwick, or you are able to arrange your own flights.

This ticket bundle is exclusive to the Speed Chills group and we are delighted to be part of this racing ticket programme and to extend this offer to our guests. The ticket contains everything you need to make the most of this iconic race, but we also have a few extra options for you to consider - the 'Fun Walk/Run' around the Daytona International Speedway on race day morning and the Café 24 Breakfast Garage on Sunday morning.

Our Spirit of Daytona Racing 'race fan' itinerary is as follows -

  • Wednesday 23rd January 2019 - Guests to make own way to airport. Check in and fly to Orlando, collect rental car and drive to Daytona Beach (75 mins drive)
  • Thursday - With no planned group activities, on-track there will be race practice throughout the day and into the night at the Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Off-the-track, you may wish to use this day to familiarise yourself with the local area, visit Volusia Mall opposite the track for some shopping or even head south to visit to Racing's North Turn pub at Ponce Inlet, about 15 minutes from the Fountain Beach – this is the exact location where racing history began in Daytona Beach
  • Friday - The group will meet bright and early to head to track for an ‘International Media Welcome Breakfast’ in the Daytona tower overlooking the whole of the speedway and pit lane. After this we will head to the infield for an exclusive garage visit with the Spirit of Daytona Racing team. On-track there will be the final practice sessions for the Rolex 24 and the BMW Endurance Challenge, a 4 hour race which is the first race in the CTSCC
  • Saturday - With morning activates taking place, including chance to meet the drivers and then access to the pit row ahead of race, then the Rolex 24 At Daytona starts
  • Sunday - After 24 hours, the Rolex 24 At Daytona ends. We will be holding a post-race group social in the Tiki Bar at the Fountain Beach Resort
  • Monday 28th January - Activity day at your leisure before early evening flights back to the UK that arrive back in the UK on the morning of Tuesday 30th January.

We are also able to offer the exclusive ticket package put together with Spirit of Daytona Racing as a 'ticket only' purchase via our Just the Ticket option - ideal for those adding a visit to the race to an existing family holiday in Florida.

The Spirit of Daytona Racing Package offers accommodation at the Fountain Beach Resort on nearby Daytona Beach.

Your accommodation - the Fountain Beach Resort Condo

Having visited the Rolex 24 At Daytona for the past few years, we feel our accommodation at the Fountain Beach Resort gives you the best chance to enjoy your trip, waking up with a walk on the beach directly from the hotel, then perhaps a swim before a short drive 10 minute drive where you will then be immersed in the centre of the Daytona International Speedway infield with all the sights and smells that come as part of the race experience!

Along Daytona Beach's 23-mile stretch of sun-drenched coastline, there's no shortage of things to do. Surfers command the roll of the ocean, scuba divers explore beneath the surface, race cars buzz around the track at the Daytona International Speedway, and families casually stroll past the illuminated amusement-park rides on the Daytona Beach boardwalk.

Fountain Beach Resort

The Fountain Beach Resort of Daytona Beach is perfectly located both for access to the Daytona International Speedway which is less than 10 minutes drive away and for the delights of Daytona Beach for R&R. Staying at Fountain Beach, you are on the beach and literally minutes from shopping, bars & restaurants, the Ocean Center, Boardwalk Amusements, Ocean Walk Village, Pier and more.

The rooms offer private balconies, all with some sort of an ocean view and come with small refrigerators, microwaves, and coffeemakers. You can always upgrade to a one bedroom suite which accommodates a family comfortably for a longer stay. Outside, there's an expansive deck around a seasonally heated pool and hot tub. The pool deck is lined with lounge chairs, and back dropped with palm trees. A fitness centre and sauna is also offered.

The on site Oasis Tiki Bar & Grill plays host to our Sunday post-race social where you can relax over a drink and share experiences with other members of the group. It is also a great place to relax after a day at the circuit.

The rooms are owned by individuals rather than the hotel, so are decorated in individual styles, but all are comfortable and with all of the facilities you need for a visit to the races. Being centered with the main group also adds another aspect to your holiday - friendships will be formed here that may extend to other races across the globe.
