'Speed Chills Le
Mans 2006 Atmosphere & Spirit'
Here are the results
of the Speed Chills 2006 Photo Competition for photographs or
digital images that capture the spirit of Speed Chills at Le Mans
2006.
This vague
description led to the judges picking a wide range of entries in
their individual Top 3's - some of which are given an honourable
mention below...but all agreed that the winning photo captured the
Le Mans 2006 atmosphere perfectly.
The Judges were -
Andy Woolgar - Creation AIM
Sander Van Dijk - planetlemans.com
Neil Matthews & Chris Daynes - Speed Chills.
Honourable
mentions went to...

Photographer - Gerry Buggy
"This
is what I will always remember Le Mans being all about" Gerry
"This truly IS Le Mans for me. You only
get this kind of shot there, with the Dunlop Grandstand, fans up all
hours, great night atmosphere. Pretty good picture from the grandstand
but it really does sum up the event for me." Andy Woolgar
-

Photographer - Rob Vaughan
"there is no Le Mans without Mad Friday.
Well there is no Le Mans with the many opportunities to visit the
pitlane, there is no Le Mans without the parade in town and there is no
Le Mans without the camp sites and fun fair. This image captured well
that there is so much fun, a great atmosphere and great thing to do at
Le Mans for spectators. Not just the race weekend but the whole week."
Sander van Dijk
-

Photographer - Séamus Shea
"this guy was doing something that we
rarely get chance to do during the '36' hours of Le Mans! No, not
eating, but sleeping, and in his food too. He was obviously very
protective of his food!" Andy Woolgar
"great
picture which really shows how many lads end up after a few glasses, a
whole day of sun and no sleep at all." Sander van Dijk
-

Photographer - Rob Vaughan
"I love this picture...not only is it a
real insight into life in the garages between stops but it also reminds
of a memorable few hours spent being part of Creations Le Mans effort".
Neil Matthews
-

Photographer - David Southward
"real Speed Chills shot this one, the
World cup kept people enthralled and the cold beer kept flowing".
Chris Daynes
"great to see some Speed Chills regulars
at play - I'm usually too busy during the weekend to see people enjoying
themselves. Good to see Paddy in the shot too! (England football
top)." Neil Matthews
-

Photographer - Andrew
Edwards
"Phil
Edwards, the stag, on his way from the Speed Chills to the race!"
Andrew Edwards
"great to these guys in the mix - the
planning that must go into the costumes for their visits must be immense
- no-one will forget their Tour de France get-ups" Chris Daynes
-

Photographer - Martyn Harvey
"this is a nice shot of some activity in
the pit garage. It also includes JC-W doing his best Chimp impression -
it was great to have him back with us. The mechanics worked their arses
off so I wanted to have a shot that included a few of them too. In this
picture are (L) Nigel, (Baldy) Paul and Bazzo laughing at JC-W. Also
this was our first foray at LM with Speed Chills so it's good to get
Neil's head in the shot too!" Andy Woolgar
...and the winner was...

Photographer - Rob Vaughan
"Seen
trough the team's 'eye'. I guess you can not make these pictures if you
are travelling without Speed Chills right? Picture must be taken just
before the night falls. No matter what time, there are always people
sitting on the grandstands in front of the pit lane cheering their
favourite teams. Sander van Dijk
"that
magical time as day finally slips towards night time. This picture just
oozes atmosphere." Neil Matthews
Rob received a
framed copy of his winning effort signed by Beppe Gabbianni and
Jamie Campbell-Walter and a pair of tickets to LMS round at
Donington Park in August 2006.
