What campsite do you recommend?
We obviously recommend Speed Chills
Private Camping as we have designed it to be the perfect solution
for Le Mans events with all of the atmosphere of the event but
none of the downsides of the public offering.
Of the public sites, we recommend any
that are in relative proximity to our Private Camping sites for
‘guest members’ of Speed Chills to fully utilise the hospitality
facilities provided.
I want tickets for another campsite,
can you help?
As an official agency of the ACO we
are able to offer a wide range of campsites including the ever
popular Maison Blanche and Houx sites.
We preserve a proportion of our
ticket allocation for self-drive packages with the remainder made
available on a ticket only basis. Please see the respective pages
for the event of interest for availability.
Where are the campsites at the Le
Mans circuit?
The public campsites at the circuit
are mainly grouped around the start and end parts of the circuit
ranging from Beausejour at the Porsche Curves to Tertre Rouge at
the top of the Mulsanne straight. There are also small sites at
Mulsanne and Arnage. Some campsites are inside the circuit, like
Houx, and some outside like Maison Blanche.
The available sites change over time,
but the most recent official map can be found here.
Please note that for the Moto GP, the
campsites are used in a different manner and is far less defined
than for other events. Certain grandstand upgrades such as ‘Garage
Vert’ can be selected to ensure camping space close to your
grandstand.
Who is responsible for the campsites
at the Le Mans circuit?
Official campsites are maintained and
controlled by the ACO, the organisers of Le Mans.
Unofficial sites spring up
occasionally but these are policed out of existence without
notice, often leaving the people who have unwittingly parted with
their money to use these unsanctioned facilities with no place to
stay.
Speed Chills acts solely as an agent
for ticket sales and the terms and conditions of the ACO apply to
people staying on public sites. We do, however, assist our
customers with practical advice and dialog with ACO officials as
required.
What facilities do the campsites at
the Le Mans circuit have?
Most public campsites have toilet and
shower facilities and a catering outlet. The ratio of toilets and
showers to campers is, in our opinion not generous and the
catering of a very basic nature.
All offer fresh water supply from
standpipes but only a few offer an electrical supply.
How much space do I get and what can
I use it for?
Camping passes for the public
campsites typically entitle you to a 7m by 5m pitch. This area
must cater for your tent, car and any other structures. The
pitches are allocated on arrival on many sites and are not
particularly well policed - in fact people do their utmost to make
policing by the ACO impossible.
I want to camp next to my friends,
can Speed Chills arrange that?
Yes, this is one of the most popular
features of Speed Chills Private Camping. We guarantee that your
pitch will be next to that of the other members of your group
irrespective of when each car arrives.
For the public campsites, Speed
Chills aim to keep groups together but this is dependent on the
tickets issued by the ACO so no guarantees are made.
If you have to be together as a
group, Speed Chills Private Camping is the solution for you.
I'm concerned about the safety of my
car/motorcycle, can Speed Chills help?
Whilst petty theft of valuables left
in the open is known to be a general issue at Le Mans the theft of
vehicles is very rare. As the campsites host true exotica that
pose a far greater temptation than the majority of vehicles (your
prized TVR, Ferrari or Porsche is not going to stand out like a
sore thumb!), due diligence (lock the thing!) should suffice.
Speed Chills Private Camping is our
recommended solution as the area is fenced off with 2m high
anti-climb fencing and the gate is manned by our security team.
