FAQ - PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB AT LE MANS

What do you mean by the phrase Private Members Club?

Breaking the phrase down hopefully explains the concept -

1. Private - access to the facilities are limited to members

2. Members - people consciously 'join' the club and pay a membership fee

3. Club - the memberships fees paid by members are used to provide facilities for the benefit of all members for the period of the event.

Why is there a cost to join?

Membership fees are designed to cover the majority of the fixed costs of providing the facilities offered by the club. These include the rental costs of the site, UK staff, transportation, full insurance, entertainment etc.

There is no profit element to membership fees and the cost of providing the facility exceed the total collected as fees.

Without membership fees it would not be possible to provide such a facility.

What do I get for my membership fee?

As a member you get access to the Club and its facilities; these change on an annual basis - please refer to the page for the event for up to date information.

How much does food and drink cost at Speed Chills?

We endeavour to keep our prices at comparable levels to those found elsewhere at an event. Please bear in mind that comparison is not always reasonable e.g. we charge the local price for beer and wine but provide a higher quality product. Can you compare our Full English Breakfast with its quality bacon and sausages to continental alternatives...frankfurters for breakfast anyone?

Where is the Private Members Club at Le Mans?

We currently have one Private Members Club at Le Mans; it is located in the environs of the Beausejour campsite. For detailed information click here.

How far is Speed Chills Private Members Club from the start/finish area?

To walk at a comfortable pace from the Club at Beausejour to the start/finish line takes about 35 minutes. The nearest public viewing area is at the Porsche Curves and is a 10 minute walk from the Beausejour club.

Are there Private Members Clubs at other events?

Few motorsport events can support the Private Members Club concept as they are typically of a shorter duration. For these shorter events we have devised the Bar & Grill concept that is smaller scale and not limited to members.

We would love to do the Isle of Man TT but the timing clashes with Le Mans and our current infrastructure cannot cater for more than one event happening at a time.

If you have ideas where the Private Members club concept could work, please contact us.

FAQ - CAMPING AT LE MANS (THE 24 HOUR RACE)

What campsite do you recommend?

We obviously recommend Beausejour campsite for its convenient location for members of the Private Members Club. For more information on this site and how we feel it compares to other sites click here.

I want tickets for another campsite, can you help?

We currently only deal in tickets for Beausejour camping; if you require tickets for other sites contact the ACO direct.

Where is Beausejour campsite?

Beausejour campsite is the most Southerly of the ACO maintained campsites and is located within the circuit perimeter which means that during the race you can hear the cars from all directions. Access during the race is via the bridge under the circuit at the Porsche Curves. For detailed location information - click here.

Who is responsible for Beausejour campsite?

Beausejour campsite is maintained and controlled by the ACO, the organisers of Le Mans. Speed Chills acts solely as an agent for ticket sales and cannot assist in matters arising from this. We will, however, assist our customers with practical advice and dialog with ACO officials as required.

What facilities does Beausejour campsite have?

The campsite has toilet and shower facilities regularly distributed across the site as well as fresh water supply from standpipes. There is no electrical supply and pitches are not marked.

How much space do I get and what can I use it for?

Your camping pass, which is fixed to your vehicle, entitles you to a 7m by 5m maximum pitch. This area must cater for your tent, car and any other structures. The pitches are allocated on arrival and are not particularly well policed - in fact people do their utmost to make policing by the ACO impossible.

I want to camp next to my friends, can Speed Chills arrange that?

Pitches in Beausejour are allocated on arrival rather being reserved and marked. This means that it is not possible to guarantee contiguous space for groups. The only way to ensure you are located together is to arrive in good time (from Friday lunchtime onwards things can become difficult) and arrive together. Many groups send 'advance parties' to mark out areas and this appears to be tolerated by the ACO.

I'm concerned about the safety of my car/motorcycle, can Speed Chills help?

Whilst petty theft of valuables left in the open is known to be a general issue at Le Mans the theft of vehicles is very rare. As the campsites host true exotica that pose a far greater temptation than the majority of vehicles (your prized TVR, Ferrari or Porsche is not going to stand out like a sore thumb!), due diligence (lock the thing!) should suffice.

Speed Chills has access to an area that could be developed into a secure pound (fenced and locked) but would need to charge at least £50 per vehicle to make this cost-effective. Please contact us if such a facility would be of interest.
